We gain our various abilities in accordance to the mission of The Order and our past lives. It would seem like a posthumous personality test, except that it is granted for a select group of spirits, each powered with their utmost desire to haunt. For us, the Specters, we are driven by one thing in common: curiosity.

 

Let us give you a brief orientation as to how The Test goes.

 

When one dies, your soul will be screened by the operatives of The Order. It is as though we are signing up for some kind of "Terms and Conditions" wherein they would get to have access to our being—memories, personalities, thoughts, fears—everything. The souls will then be categorized accordingly. We have no idea how advanced The Order is in terms of classifying souls given that they have been doing this since time immemorial, but we know for sure how reliable it is. 

 

Once the souls are in their respective groups, they would be trained according to their Family’s purpose.  This is The Order’s indirect way of brainwashing their creatures. The souls were made to believe for a chance to live forever, for a chance to redeem themselves, for a chance to roam the Mortal realm once more. Driven by determination, the creatures then willingly follow what they are tasked to do, and it would doing several dirty work. Dirty work in the Afterlife? Yeah, sure, but it all differs from family to family. One thing is for sure though: it is a necessary step where one abandons all humanity, goodness, and faith. You may now think that The Order is just straight-up Hell, but no, they are probably worse. How so? Because souls who are unable to complete The Test are sent there. In other words, Hell is merely another department for The Order. 

 

Upon completion of the quests provided by the Family, the soul is then baptized. They will be blessed with a name, a life, and a companion. They will also obtain the abilities which they harnessed based from their past lives and from their Test performance. The Family will then send the member to a particular Family branch mansion in several secluded locations. And from thereon they shall put their special abilities to use.
